The concept of ISO certification was conceived after the deputy director of panchayat office in Alappuzha got the certification. The certification will help in bringing more professionalism to the functioning of the local bodies. The first panchayat to get the ISO certification was Kumbala in Kasargod district in 2010. Now this process will be extended to other local bodies in the state.
