Digital information system for city surveillance

Information Kerala Mission (IKM) has digitised the road network, water resources, major landmarks and footprint of buildings, etc for Janamaithri Suraksha Project, a Crime Monitoring System introduced by police department in Perinthalmanna Municipality. The customized information System developed by IKM is useful to develop closer ties between the police and the citizens and create interacting partnerships within local communities to deal effectively with anti-social activities and prevent crime. With the Digitised database, it is easy to understand the nature of landscape, the shortest path to reach the  beats, to locate the position of police patrolling team at a particular moment, so that, the beat police who is near to the crime spot can be directed to reach the spot instantaneously. As building foot prints are attached to the database, by adding attribute information, details of information of those who are included in the criminal list also can be tracked with a click of the mouse. In the presence of Municipal Officials IKM Executive Chairman and Director, Dr. M. Samsuddin handed over the CD containing the digital data and the customized information system to Shri. Manoj Parayatta, Sub Inspector of Police, Perinthalmanna.
